Place: Hibari-Lounge, Toyohashi Tech.
Title:

"electroencephalography (EEG) and its application"

Outline:

Recently the measurement and processing technique of biological signal has made a rapid progress. Especially, electroencepha lography (EEG), whose utilization is limited to the medical and scientific field, has been familiar to us. In this talk, several EEG devices and the examples of its application will be introduced and the participants can experience demo using an easy EEG device.

The 22nd Lunch Colloquia

Date:

Friday 28th June 2013

Time:

12:15-13:00.

Place: Hibari-Lounge, Toyohashi Tech.
Lecturer: Dr. Nobuo Misawa
Title: "An application of artificial sniffing for chemical sensing"
Outline: There are still a lot of complaints about odd taste or nasty smell of commercial foods although the food-safety is highly regulated in Japan. Sensory assessment by creature's sense of smell is very effective for detection of such troubles for instance. However, the assessment varies between individuals and has low repeatable nature due to the indescribable feelings frequently. Hence, we came up with the idea of direct using of olfactory receptors expressed cells for an artificial nose. In this talk, I will touch a topic of olfactory receptors and propose an application of artificial sensing for food administration.
